Root Canal Treatment

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root treatment is the treatment of pathological processes and microorganisms in the dental pulp. The treatment helps to heal the inflammed dental nerve. Inflammation of the root canal is an extremely dangerous condition that can affect the vitality of the tooth.

Can tooth under a dental bridge be affected?

Tooth inflammation can affect natural teeth, but it can also occur beneath dental prosthetics (e.g. crowns or dental bridges). Assessing the vitality of the dental pulp in prosthetically restored teeth requires a specialized examination. Inflammation may occur from mechanical or microbiological causes.

At Dentus Perfectus dental practice we perform endodontic treatment to eliminate inflammation and preserve your natural tooth.

What can lead to inflammation?

Inflammation occurs due to untreated caries lesions, damaged fillings, tooth fractures, inappropriate crowns, periodontal pockets and trauma caused by bruxism. This conditions leave an open entrance for bacteria into the dental pulp and destruction of healthy tooth.

Who needs root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment symptoms that cannot be ignored begin with increased sensitivity to hot and cold.

What the treatment looks like?

Treatment of the dental nerve includes instrumentation and canal filling. We use an endometer and special needles of various sizes to access the narrow space of the tooth root. We access the root using machine endodontics, which shortens the tooth treatment time.

What is an alternative procedure for treating dental nerve inflammation?

Treatment revision, Apicotomy or Tooth extraction – greatly depending on the tooth condition.

What does the dental nerve treatment procedure look like?

  • Dental examination and X-rays
  • Local anesthesia and preparation of the working field
  • Endodonthics
  • X-rays
  • Fiber post and tooth protection (e.g. dental crown or dental bridge) for tooth protection

Why treat the root canal?

  • To stop the pain.
  • To stop the inflammation of the gum and neighboring teeth.
  • To extend the life span of the tooth.
  • To prevent tooth extraction.

How is root canal treatment being performed?

We perform dental nerve treatment with the highest level of protection and isolation of the working field by using a rubber dam for a dry and safe working field. We measure the depth of the root canals with a special tool – an endometer.

Which technique is being used in our dental practice?

There are two techniques – manual and machine endodontics. At the Dentus perfectus office we use machine techniques to clean the canals with needles. This is followed by endodontic therapy and closing the tooth with a filling. After the treatment is complete, we place a root abutment and crown on the part of the tooth that is damaged. The dental crown is identical to your natural tooth in shape, color and size. The abutment will prevent future damage and root fracture. The dental crown will reconstruct the lost part of the tooth crown.

  • It reduces the possibility of secondary infection.

  • It prevents root or crown fracture.

We have answered our patients’ questions about “Root Canal Treatment”

A CT scan is a three-dimensional image that helps to see the exact number, length, direction and all the details of the dental canals and nerves in the tooth.

Considering the patient’s medical history and possible allergic reactions, our dentist will decide on the best antibiotic during the examination.

The tooth looks natural. In some cases it can be noticeably different in size and color. The tooth is fragile and no longer has its original strength. When necessary, a dental crown is placed on the tooth to restore its full shape, strength, and original color.
